SUPPORT THE CLASSIC CITY BAND AND ITS ENSEMBLES
The Classic City Band, the oldest continuously operating community band in Georgia, is comprised of approx. 60 musicians
from Athens and the surrounding area. The band presents six to nine concerts each year from September through July 4th. The
Classic City Band is a not-for-profit organization with 501 (c) (3) status from the Internal Revenue Service.
The Classic City Band affords amateur musicians the opportunity to continue playing after
high school and college, as well as to promote concert band music, jazz, and small ensemble entertainment. The passion for
music in the hearts of all the musicians is evident at every performance.
The Classic City Band depends upon corporate sponsors and private donors to support its musical and operational base,
from instrumentation to travel expenses, to purchasing music and to maintaining our 400-piece library. The dance band (Classic
City Swing) and other small ensembles of the band such as the German Band function separately, but they follow the by-laws
and wishes of the board of the Classic City Band.
A new goal of
the Classic City Band is to purchase percussion equipment such as timpani, chimes, and a xylophone. Another important goal
this year is to fund a scholarship program for young University of Georgia music majors to play in the band during the 2009
– 2010 season.
The Classic City Band invites you to become a
special donor or a corporate sponsor and to be listed prominently as a supporter on future programs. The logos of corporate
sponsors will also appear on programs. All gifts to the Classic City Band are tax-deductible. Suggested levels of giving are
listed below.
LEVEL ONE - Section Leaders - $40 - $99
LEVEL TWO - First
Chair Leaders - $100 - $499
LEVEL THREE -Conductor's Circle - $500 - $1000
LEVEL FOUR - Corporate Sponsorship - $1500 and up.
